Ayurveda Yoga Massage (AYM) is a form of massage that combines elements from Ayurveda, an ancient Indian healing system, and yoga. It is a holistic approach to healing that focuses on aligning the body and mind to promote balance and well-being. AYM is performed on a mat and includes a combination of massage techniques, yoga-like stretches, and energy work. The masseur usually uses warm herbal oil and performs long strokes, kneading movements and stretches to relieve tension and blockages in the body.
AYM is designed to balance the three doshas of the body i.e. Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The masseur determines which doshas are out of balance in the client and adjusts the massage accordingly. The massage is intended to release toxins, improve blood circulation, increase flexibility and reduce stress. It is often used for chronic pain, stress-related illnesses and injuries.
AYM is a relatively new and not yet widely used technique and is not available everywhere. It is usually offered by therapists who are trained in both Ayurveda and yoga.
